#2. Jesus Walks on Water
So the storm is raging and your little boat of reliance is cracking. You’re totally unsure of what to do.
Jesus Arrives on the Scene
This is exactly what happened to the disciples. They were exhausted from fighting the storm on their own and for all practical purposes, scared to death. Jesus shows up in a way that they totally don’t expect…walking on water. What?!… Don’t feel bad, we’re not far off from the disciples’ reaction:
Meanwhile, the boat was far out to sea when the wind came up against them and they were battered by the waves. At about four o’clock in the morning, Jesus came toward them walking on the water. They were scared out of their wits. “A ghost!” they said, crying out in terror.
Sometimes we think it’s crazy how and when God decides to show up and help us in our distress. It’s usually in a completely non-conventional way, because He doesn’t want to share his glory with another or have the work of His hand explained away with common reasoning. Sometimes a miracle of God, is simply a miracle and that is that.
Have you ever prayed about something, that was immovable and impossible, and afterwards –somehow– it became soft and doable?
Sometimes positive thinking will only get us so far. These are the moments we need the power of God.
Be on the lookout and don’t be surprised if God’s help comes to you in a completely unexpected way. I don’t think Jesus had ever walked on water before and I don’t think there is another reference to him doing that specific miraculous act again. “God works in mysterious ways”, remember?
