The Ocean and Surrender

The ocean seems large enough to swallow our big burdens.
So we give them up there at the seaside.

I see peoples’ faces as they stare at the shoreline and into the deep ocean.
They are whispering their worries away. They are communing.
We relinquish to something larger than ourselves – right there in that moment.

God sees us even if we don’t see him.

This is where freedom comes…
…in the SURRENDER.

Sometimes this is the BEST place to be.
Caught between what you want, what is, and what God wants.

God is good and He is ultimately in control, making GOOD even out of the BAD in our lives. Somehow he weaves it all together for our utmost good. “How can that be?”, you may ask. He crushes me like grapes to form another substance: perhaps wine. Yes, it hurts.

Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

– Romans 8:26-28 MSG

There may be a lot of fear here, in the unknown. But how do we move through that and rest? We rest in the palm of his hand, that’s how. Imagine your bed the very palm of God, holding you. I like to tell my girls this.  They get a big smile on their faces.

To follow His lead one step at a time is to rest in safety. He always has our best interest in mind — even when others do not.

What wonderful lyrics found in this song by Hillsong UNITED: Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
